Port Charlotte issues rabies alert

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla-- Animal control is issuing a rabies alert in Port Charlotte. Two people were exposed to a bat, which tested positive for the virus.

The alert affects the following areas -- Frederick Avenue, Peachland Boulevard, Broadview Street, Adela Avenue and Beacon Drive. The alert will be in effect for 30 days.

Until it ends, you're urged to report any sick or injured wildlife and stray domestic animals.
