Naples Police are seeking a driver who reportedly pointed a gun at a father and his two young children Tuesday.

The father told officers that he was about to cross the street with his children in the 700 block of Anchor Rode Drive around 5:30 p.m., when a white soft-topped SUV raced by at a high rate of speed.

When the father yelled at the driver to slow down, the SUV - possibly a white Jeep - suddenly stopped. According to a police report, the father told police the driver stuck his head out the window, pointed a gun at him, and asked if he "wanted any problems."

"He should be charged with a crime," said John Bamberger of Naples. "It's that simple. That's a threat."

Fearing for their safety, the father moved his children out of the way and the driver sped westbound towards Crayton Road. A neighbor several doors down from the incident's location confirmed the story to police.

The driver is described as being white, 30 to 40 years old, with salt-and-pepper hair and an unshaven face. The suspect's gun is described as a silver handgun.

The suspect faces a charge of aggravated assault if and when police find him. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
