Police asking for public's help finding shooter of pellet gun in Marco Island

UPDATE 4/7:

On March 30, at 7:49 p.m., the Marco Island Police Department (MIPD) was dispatched to the area of 2nd Ave. and Marco Lake Dr. on a report of a person with a gunshot wound.

A woman was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to her hand.

An investigation revealed the injury was caused by a pellet-type gun, not a firearm, and it was determined to be a random event.

The Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance. If anyone has information regarding an individual who possesses or shoots a pellet-type gun in the area, or observed something suspicious, please contact Marco Island Police at (239) 389-5050, or CrimeStopper at 1-(800) 780 TIPS (8477).


UPDATE 3/31, 12 PM:

The Marco Island Police Department continues to investigate the incident.

The injured woman has invoked Marcy’s Law (Florida Crime Victims' Bill of Rights).

There have been no arrests associated with this incident at this time.

Marco Island Police are investigating the shooting of a woman in a Marco Island home.

Just before 8 p.m., Tuesday, police responded to a home at 2nd Ave & Marco Lake Dr., where a woman had been shot in the hand.

She was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Police say there is no danger to the public.
