COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.-- The Southwest Florida community is coming together to put down pinwheels at the Naples pier, to raise awareness for child abuse.
The Children's Advocacy Center of Collier County is hosting their Pinwheels at The Pier event on Friday, April 13, 2018 as past of child abuse prevention month. The event will be from 10 AM- 1 PM.
Jackie Stephens, the CEO of the non-profit, says the center works with abused children. Their goal is to make sure kids are safe and have a loving childhood. The organization also provides advocacy for at-risk kids and therapy for children who have gone through traumatic experiences.
The Children's Advocacy Center of Collier County wants to highlight awareness through their event. The pinwheels represent kids they have helped; they work with about 1,400 kids every year.
