FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police are on the scene of a fatal traffic accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Colonial Boulevard near Interstate 75.
It happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. at the intersection with Colonial Center Drive, just west of I-75.
Westbound lanes of Colonial Boulevard are closed and are expected to remain closed for hours as Fort Myers Police investigate the scene.
Westbound traffic is being diverted onto Colonial Center Drive towards Ortiz Avenue.
**UPDATE (9AM)** -- FMPD reports that all units are clear of scene and Colonial Boulevard and Colonial Center Drive. The roadway is open for traffic.
