FORT MYERS, Fla. — Several Lee County parents say they're concerned after learning a sexual predator lives just feet away from their childrens' bus stop in Fort Myers.

According to the Lee County School District, students from seven different schools are dropped off at the bus stop on Orange River Boulevard and Lorraine Drive in Fort Myers, which is three doors down from a registered sexual predator's home.

"I'm like shocked," Ester Hernandez said. "I don't even want my own kid walking here alone."

41-year-old Sylvette Barreto lives on Lorraine Drive. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Barreto was convicted on multiple charges of sexual battery, including engaging in a sexual act with an underage child.

"I'd rather have them be at a bus stop that is safer for them in case of anything," said Hernandez.

The Lee County School District said they get notified about every predator and offender before bus stop routes are made. They also reassured they resent Barreto's address to the transportation department to make sure this bus stop doesn't violate any laws, policies or procedures.
