CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Several law enforcement agencies worked together to recover ten stolen firearms less than 24 hours after they say they were taken from a Cape Coral gun store.
19-year-olds Livan Rodriguez-Perez and Jeffery John Laferlita are both facing charges of Armed Burglary, Grand Theft of Firearms, and Felony Criminal Mischief.
According to Cape Coral Police, officers responded to a burglary alarm at Cape Guns on Skyline Boulevard around 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
There they found the business' front door forced open and ten firearms were missing.
While performing an inventory at the store, ATF agents noticed a suspicious man in the area and attempted to interview him. That man, later identified as Rodriguez-Perez, ran from agents and hopped into a car with Laferita and fled the area.
Evidence led investigators to a home in the 100 block of SW 29th Street, where all ten stolen firearms were located.
The two suspects were arrested and taken to Lee County Jail.
The investigation involved Cape Coral Police officers, Property Crimes Unit detectives, forensic technicians, Lee County Sheriff's Office K-9, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
