One man in custody after massive search in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A man was taken into custody following a massive search in Fort Myers Thursday morning.

It was near the intersection of State Road 82 and I-75.

Officers and deputies had the area surrounded on Teter Road, which runs parallel to S.R. 82.

Our Fox 4 crew saw a row of at least 20 police cruisers on scene. There was a chopper circling overhead. A K-9 unit on the ground.

Our crew saw deputies take one person into custody. A man was handcuffed and put in the back of a deputy’s car. Our crew also saw a white KIA on scene. It was on the side of the road with one door open.

An ambulance did show up to the scene. It appeared paramedics were treating someone.

Fort Myers police and Lee County deputies responded to the scene. It happened at around 1:20 AM.

Right now, one person is in police custody. Fox 4 is working to find out what happened.
