One person was shot and killed by a Lee County deputy Satruday following a domestic violence incident.

It happened on Saturday around 4:24 p.m. in the 18100 block of DuPont Drive in South Fort Myers.

Once deputies searched the resident they came in contact with the suspect who pointed a firearm in their direction. Deputies shot at the suspect, LCSO said at a press conference.

That suspect is confirmed dead.

No deputies were injured and those involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave per LCSO policy.

Neighbor's Dour in Your Corner Spoke with described the chaos that erupted when deputies arrived on the scene.

"All of a sudden police cars were all over the place", said Harry Teeter. Harry is a seasonal resident who has owned a house on the street for years. He says that deputies quickly blocked off the street.

"They told me to get in my house and stay there."

Teeter and his neighbors are still trying to make sense of what happened as sheriff's deputies continue to block off the house.

This is an ongoing investigation.
