CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Police say officers must be prepared for any encounter that comes their way. That applied to one Cape Coral Police Officer Thursday morning.

The police department shared this photo on their Facebook page Thursday.

They say Ofc. Mills responded to a call about an alligator on a front lawn, and arrived to find an 8.5 footer waiting.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services arrived to help relocate the reptile.

No injuries were reported.
