Oakes Farms Seed to Table delivery driver arrested for DUI in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Collier County Police responded to an incident involving a drunk driver.

Security at the Waterside Shoppes observed Steven Ward, 40 back into a post for a gate as he was going to make a delivery.

The Security guard responded to the crash and noticed Ward had the smell of alcohol on his breath.

The security guard explained to Collier County Police that he also observed several open and unopened containers of beer in the truck.

When questioned by the responding officer, Ward admitted to having a few drinks.

Ward refused to do some exercises to rule out DUI.

The deputy found two cold, Frosty Icehouse EDGE beers (8% alcohol) in a bag in the front seat. There were five open beers, either can (also EDGE) or bottles (Budweiser).

Additionally, there were two unopened Budweiser's in the cooler in the seat.

Ward was transported to the jail, where he agreed to a breath test. The results were .288 and. 283.

Ward is charged with DUI, DUI with property damage, and VOSP for the felony State probation from a prior case.
