Would you change your name if you had the ability to? North Fort Myers could be renamed something entirely different after one community leader proposed a community name change.
The president of the "North Fort Myers Civic Association," Mike Land, claims the name "North Fort Myers" doesn't do the community any justice.
He also says it won't cost taxpayers much for the name change. He says some money will have to be spent on replacing certain street signs in the area.
Some residents are on board with the possibility of a new name, while others don't see the need for change.
One North Fort Myers resident, Stanley Young, said, "Don't change it. I like it just the way it is."
Mike Land is expected to talk about his proposal further during the next Civic Association's Meeting on Tuesday, July 11th.
