CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Dixie Roadhouse has been in the hot seat after a bar fight involving 40 people broke out in December. Since then the city of Cape Coral has suspended the bars extended hours, having to close at 2am instead of 3am.
“And I think they probably did the right thing taking it away from them at first, I think they deserve another chance,” said Steve Wedlock, Cape Coral.
The managers of Dixie Roadhouse tell Fox 4 they worked closely with the Cape Coral Police Department to increase security. Monday the Cape Coral City Council will be deciding whether or not to allow Dixie Roadhouse's extended hour back. The city approved extended hours for the bar in April of 2018.
The bar has installed a total of 60 cameras, to add to the 20 the bar already had in place.
“With there added security and cameras, I feel safe I’ve always felt safe there,” said Rebecca Rhesdle, Cape Coral.
The surveillance video is also at the palm of manager’s hands, they can play back video and not even be at the bar.
To get in you now have to scan your ID, which will notify bouncers if you are on the banned list.
