FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made an appearance in Southwest Florida this Veterans Day. He joined Home Base Southwest Florida, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program, and Lee Health to announce new mental health services for veterans in our area.

Starting Monday, a new clinic will offer free mental health care for more than 100,000 local veterans, service members and their families.

Those suffering from the invisible wounds of war will now be able to turn to the Home Base Veterans and Family Clinic at Lee Health. The outpatient clinic will be available for appointments immediately.

The goal is to get veterans, family members and active-duty service members the help they need to lower the alarming veteran suicide rate.

The clinic will help with the invisible wounds of war, things like:

· PTSD
· depression
· anxiety
· anger
· grief
· loss
· transitional challenges
· addiction

The formal announcement took place in Fort Myers Monday morning.
