MARCO ISLAND, Fla -- New information from a story we told you about last year, regarding an ex-Marco Island firefighter allegedly having sex with a minor. Nick Macchiarolo was fired the day Collier County Sheriff’s charged him for sending pictures of his privates to a minor in May of 2018, but now it’s where these two were having sex, that raises more questions.
Documents detail how the firefighter and this teenager had sex at a gym located within the fire department. It started in November 2017 police reports say Macchiarolo and the minor started speaking over social media. By early January the victim stated the messages became sexual in nature, including two photos from Macchiarolo of his genitals.
Fox 4 got newer reports obtained through Collier County Sheriff’s Office, that Macchiarolo and the minor engaged in sexual acts within the fire department gym seven times. The report says the victim states: “she was observed as being there at least a couple of times by Marco Island police officers and other firefighters."
According to the arrest report, Macchiarolo says he thought the minor was 21 years old at the time. Macchiarolo was charged with transmission of harmful material to minor and other charges. The Marco Island Fire Chief says he was fired the day he was charged in 2018, he released this statement to us today:
“We don’t tolerate this, we brought in the collier county sheriffs office to investigate the matter. we were very proactive with this matter and we were very clear with {nick} that this would not be tolerated.”
Fox 4 did reach out to Macchiarolo's grandfather on this matter, he told Fox 4 he did not have any comment.
