LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The School District of Lee County is launching a new after-school program to provide students with help completing homework and class assignments. “Connect with LEE” will use Zoom to Connect students with Live Educational Experts.

“We are excited to push out a new initiative from the Curriculum and Instruction Department,” says Director of Curriculum for Elementary Schools, Dr. Bethany Quisenberry. “We will kick off our Connect with LEE after-school support on Monday, March 8. The program will provide a live, certified teacher for all kindergarten through 12th grade students, in all subjects, so they can reach their highest personal potential.”

To engage with a teacher for help with homework and class assignments, students will use the Student Launchpad on their Chromebook or any electronic device. They will then select the grade or content-specific virtual classroom link, and be placed into a virtual waiting room until the teacher is ready to start the Zoom meeting.

Connect with LEE will be available on days school is in session Monday through Thursday.

  • Elementary 3:30pm-7:30pm
  • Middle School 4:30pm-7:30pm
  • High School 3:30pm-7:30pm

Director of Curriculum for High School education Candace Allevato said "Connect with LEE" is one of the multiple expanded learning opportunities the district is offering.

Another example is its "Back on Track" program, which is for any high school student in need of earning credits. If a child failed a course during one semester, this is an opportunity that would benefit them. Allevato said depending on the school, the child can either stay after school and work with one of the district's certified teachers. Or she said they can Zoom in for that support, similar to the "Connect with LEE" program.

There is no cost or fee for the service. More information is available on the School District’s website.
