Naples woman seeks new home for guinea pig - but not if they own a snake

A Naples woman is hoping to find a new home for her pet guinea pig - one that won't use her pet as snake food.

"The Humane Society said that people buy (guinea pigs) and feed them to their snakes," said Sunny Jackson, who has owned per guinea pig Sweetie for 4 years. "I wouldn't want that."

While she said that Sweetie is an excellent companion, Jackson can't keep her.

"I take medicine that suppresses my immune system," she said. "I really shouldn't be having an animal in the house."

Jackson is hoping someone will decide that Sweetie can find "home sweet home" with them.

"I think it would be nice if it was somebody that had a child, because she would be a good pet for a child," she said.

She said guinea pigs are easier to care for than dogs.

"She doesn't bark, you don't have to walk her," Jackson said.

Anyone interested in adopting Sweetie can send a message on Fox 4's Facebook page.
