COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A Naples man was arrested Thursday after being accused of molesting a teenage girl in his home and refusing to let her leave.
51-year-old Jose Amaya is charged with Sexual Battery, victim at least 12 years old but under 18, and Kidnapping - False Imprisonment. Both are felonies.
According to a Collier County Sheriff's Office report, the teenaged victim had traveled to the U.S. from Guatemala with her father, who was later killed in a bicycle accident. The teen then moved in with a woman in Golden Gate.
Investigators say that on Monday, the teen was picked up from that residence by Amaya, who is an acquaintance of the woman. Amaya took the teen to JD Auto Repair, and requested the teen clean the business office for money.
After the office was cleaned, Amaya refused to take the teen to her home, and instead took her to several other locations before returning to the auto repair shop, where Amaya resides.
Amaya then reportedly took the girl's cell phone and left the teen alone, locked inside the residence, and returned late at night. He later began touching her private areas and molesting her while ignoring her pleas to stop.
The next morning, the teen used her phone to call 911 when Amaya left to get coffee.
Investigators say Amaya's account of the event were inconsistent, and a medical examination confirmed the teen's account.
Amaya was arrested and booked into the Naples Jail Center.
