COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. --- The Community Foundation of Collier County donates $82,000 to Habitat for Humanity for housing needs in Everglades City.
The money was raised during the Naples is Rockin' Hurricane Irma Relief concert in December 2017. Rock group Sugar Ray headlined the concert.
"This money really helps a lot," said Everglades City Mayor Howie Grimm.
The concert was funded by a $125,000 donation of Collier County Tourist Development Tax funds along with donations from other sponsors.
"This concert was a chance for residents and visitors to celebrate the area's recovery and raise money for those in the community that still needed help," said Jack Wert, executive director of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Everglades City suffered damages from a 9-foot storm surge and high winds during Hurricane Irma.
The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau is the official tourism destination marking and management organization for Collier County.
