It’s called operation Grey Muzzle, an effort to rescue hundreds of dogs from a cramped sanctuary in Puerto Rico.
”It's been a long arduous journey,” said the Director of the Naples Humane Society, Patrice Worcester.
Of the 200 dog brought back to the mainland, 27 of them were brought to the Naples Humane Society.
Conditions at that sanctuary were deplorable.
“The smell of the ammonia was so bad, it was overpowering, they had to use masks and things, and these dogs are now going to get a breath of fresh air,” said Worcester.
Some of the dogs are ready for adoption, they range in age from puppies to senior dogs, all mixed breeds.
“They seem very friendly, they seem very social, which is good, and they seem to be acclimating really well.”
Fees to adopt these dogs range from 45 to 75 dollars, most of them will be ready for adoption within the next couple days.
