Missing mom leaves neighbors wanting answers

Posted

UPDATE -- A large police presence searching for Maria Gomez, 42, leaves neighbors wondering if the investigation is more than a missing person's case.

“If they do find her, I hope they find her alive not dead cause she got kids to support," said Orlando Cardenas, Gomez's back door neighbor.

Cardenas says that he say Gomez just last night and she appeared "normal."

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Gomez went missing in her neighborhood on Oakland Drive around 8 p.m, July 4th.

But with at least five deputy cars and two crime scene units present, neighbors say it's odd for Gomez, a mother of three, to have just gone missing.

"The cops have been out here all day long and said they didn’t find nothing, so I don’t know what to believe," said Cardenas.

LSCO tells Fox 4 they will not give any additional information today as it is an active investigation.
