Please Note: FOX 4 is no longer naming this teen as he is a minor that may be the victim of human trafficking
A Lehigh Acres teen that has been missing since the first week of January is expected to arrive home tonight or tomorrow morning.
A local anti-human trafficking advocate confirmed to FOX 4 that she was escorting him back to Lee county.
She tells our team that the teen was found through successful interagency efforts between the FBI, DC Metro Police, and Law Enforcement in Pennsylvania.
That teen's family recently told FOX 4 that the last time they saw him, he was heading to work at a local Popeyes, with a coworker she didn't know.
They, and other local advocates, believe that the teen was being trafficked, because the day after he disappeared he called and asked for his birth certificate, but never went back home to pick it up.
Lee County deputies eventually pinged his phone in Washington D.C.
After a collaboration with multiple agencies, that local advocate tells FOX 4 that the teen was found in Philadelphia over the weekend.
He is expected to be back in Lee county no later than Wednesday morning.
