COLLIER COUNTY, Fla — Miami-Northwestern defeated Naples 40-7 in the 6-A semi-finals Friday night at Staver Stadium in Naples.
It was the second straight year the Bulls eliminated the Golden Eagles in the final four round of the playoffs. Northwestern scored a touchdown on its opening possession of the game, and two more touchdowns during the first quarter.
Runningback Chez Mellusi scored Naples only touchdown as the first half expired.
The Golden Eagles capped a 12-2 season, and were the last remaining Southwest Florida school left in the playoffs. Northwestern will face Armwood in the state championship game next Saturday.
