McGregor Boulevard closed due to improvement projects

Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Road construction crews have closed down part of McGregor Boulevard north of Colonial Boulevard for roadway and drainage improvements.

Two different sections will be affected by the closures over the next two weeks.

Currently, McGregor Boulevard is completely closed to traffic between Moreno Avenue/Caloosa Drive and Olmeda Way/Gasparilla Drive.

Once repairs are done in that stretch, two other sections just to the north will be closed.  These sections will be between Del Rio Drive and Barcelona Avenue, and also Alcazar Avenue to Braman Avenue.

These sections of road are expected to remain closed until 6 PM on Friday, October 20th.

Drivers are urged to avoid these sections of McGregor Boulevard is possible.

In addition to replacing the existing drainage pipes in the area, the project will resurface the roadway, replace sidewalk where disturbed by pipe replacement, replace some signage, and update crosswalks with new striping and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations.

The speed limit on McGregor Boulevard has been temporarily reduced to 25 mph in the work zone.
