CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- The Lee County School District says on online threat from a Mariner High student was not a credible threat, but the student will still be disciplined.
The social media post was making the round Wednesday, and included the phrase "shoot mhs."
District officials were notified Wednesday night and law enforcement was immediately notified.
A detective later determined that there was no credible threat to the school.
In a note to parents, district officials stressed that this behavior will not be tolerated.
Parents, please share with your students that posts like this are not tolerated, and can have serious legal and educational consequences. At the very least, they cause unnecessary disruption to the learning environment and consume staff resources.
