Marco Island residents say Mosquito problem unbearable

Posted

Despite the dry spell in Southwest Florida, mosquitoes are swarming Marco Island.

Residents say it's been especially bad over the past few days.

"During morning coffee they're bothering you, it's a little unusual for down here," said Jeff Norman who lives on Honduras Avenue.

Most residents say the mosquitoes aren't that bad until you get near homes or buildings.

"I've been here 5 years and I've never seen it like this," said John Diller

Collier County Mosquito Control conducted aerial spraying Thursday night and Friday morning. They plan to do another round of spraying Friday night.

If you're having a problem with mosquitoes in your neighborhood you can contact the district for a service call.
