MARCO ISLAND, Fla. -- Dozens of people in Marco Island are excited to welcome burrowing owls onto their properties, thanks to a grant aimed at finding the owls new homes.

If you allow the birds in your front yard, homeowners will get $250.

Last week, the Marco Island City Council approved a measure that would pay out $5,000 a year to homeowners who allow the burrows on their lawns.

Owl watch volunteers will dig the holes, but it is up to the owls to move in.
