COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Here's some good news for Southwest Florida residents! According to a new report by the National Council for Home Safety and Security, Marco Island and Naples rank as the third and fourth safest cities in the state of Florida.
So far in 2019, Marco Island has only had 11 violent crimes and 122 property crimes. Naples has had 23 violent crimes and less than 400 property crimes.
To identify the safest cities in Florida, the National Council for Home Safety and Security reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report Statistics. Nearly 8,000 cities were factored in this ranking.
As a whole, data collected shows Florida's violent crimes are moderately higher than the national average. The state ranks 37th for safety.
