NAPLES, Fla. -- Collier County deputies have arrested one person accused of firing at a Collier County deputy early Monday morning.

Deputies say Manuel DeJesus Ponce was inside his truck when a deputy showed up to investigate an alarm going off at the BHN Research farm on Immokalee Road.

As they approached, deputies say Ponce fired a gun four times. 

Ponce told deputies he thought someone was breaking in.

**UPDATE (7:30AM)** -- Collier County investigators say a man is in custody and being questioned about an overnight incident in which a shot was fired at a deputy.

NAPLES, Fla. -- The Collier County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for a person who shot at one of their deputies early Monday morning.

 

This happened around 2:45 a.m. Monday in the 25600 block of Immokalee Road, just north of Ave Maria.

 

CCSO says a deputy was responding to a security alarm when he was fired upon.

 

Fortunately, the deputy was not hit or hurt.

 

Immokalee Road was shut down for a few hours while deputies searched in the air and on the ground using a K-9 unit.  The road is now open again in the area.
