FORT MYERS, Fla. — UPDATE 7PM:
The patient from Lee Health who accessed the Fort Myers High School campus ran through one of the buildings prior to being detained. The lockdown was in progress at the time.
The District’s Safety and Security Department, along with the Fort Myers Police Department, will be at the school tomorrow to review campus security. A meeting with Lee Health security has also been scheduled.
The district says the safety of students is always the highest priority and they will continue to communicate developments.
On Dec. 10, a patient being evaluated under the Baker Act at Lee Memorial Hospital was detained by police after he ran across the neighboring Fort Myers High School campus in his underwear.
School was in session and went on lockdown for eleven minutes as students and staff watched police apprehend the undressed man on the west side of the campus near the bus ramp.
Classes continued after the incident and parents were notified.
