LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A man who killed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute in Fort Myers in 2017 will spend the rest of his life in prison.

51-year-old Freddie Harris was arrested in November 2017 after a 45-minute stand-off with police.

It happened at a home on Towles Street, just off MLK Boulevard.

Detectives say Harris stabbed and killed 39-year-old Chantill Harrison while her child was in bed next to her.

He later pointed a rifle at arriving deputies, leading to a standoff in the driveway before Harris surrendered.

Thursday, Harris was sentenced to life in prison for Second Degree Murder, five years in prison for Child Abuse and credit time served for two counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

A jury found him guilty following a two-day trial in Lee County.
