Man sentenced for vehicular homicide in Port Charlotte

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLa. — On February 1, 2017, Stephen Lawrence, 62 backed his truck into the path of the 42-year-old victim who had been riding a dirt bike on a residential street.

The victim was struck by the truck and later died.

Lawrence was found guilty at a trial in April. Lawrence must also pay court costs, cost of prosecution, and provide a DNA sample.

Lawrence was sentenced to over 9 years in prison today in Charlotte County for Vehicular Homicide and had his driver’s license suspended for life.

The crime was caught on video by the defendant’s home security cameras.
