COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies are investigating a reported incident in which a man attempted to lead a young boy away from his family this weekend.
It happened behind the Church of God Naples in the 11900 block of Collier Boulevard, according to the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives say that on Sunday afternoon, the 3-year-old boy and his family were taking pictures in the church parking area when a man whom they did not know approached the boy. The man took the boy by the hand and attempted to lead him away.
A family friend saw the incident occur and intervened, causing the suspect to let go of the child and leave the area. The child was unharmed.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man approximately 50 years old, 5'8" tall and 180 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a black long-sleeve button-up shirt with a gold chain.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239.252.9300.
