A Naples man was arrested after he crashed into a guard rail, fled the scene and left his passenger inside, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said.

It happened on Capri Boulevard just West of Collier Boulevard on July 4th.

When deputies responded to the scene the passenger informed them that she had been riding in the vehicle with Brian Jessup. The driver then got distracted and drifted off the right-hand side of the roadway and struck the guardrail, CCSO said. The passenger also told deputies that Jessup drank a few beers prior to driving and fled the scene in fear of getting in trouble.

An extensive search was conducted in the area but the driver was never located, CCSO said.

Four days later on July 8th, Jessup was spotted on Ponce De Leon Drive.

Deputies say he had a large cut on the right side of his face on his lip that resulted from the crash. He told Deputies that he had fallen asleep in the woods after the crash and called his father to get him the next morning, CCSO said.

He was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
