NAPLES, Fla. — Police said Terry Simon, 56, got arrested for disorderly intoxication and exposing his genitals to several people, including a minor, while he was downtown Naples Sunday night.
Naples Police said he was drunk and belligerent, exposing himself to shoppers walking near 5th Ave. S. and 8th St. S.
Ron Boesch who’s visiting from out of town said he was shocked to hear it.
“A little town like Naples, Florida, you would never think you would hear something like that,” he said.
And Cookie Lignowski also visiting Naples said no one deserves to see that.
“I think it’s disgusting! Nobody should be exposed to any of that. Especially when you got adults, children walking,” she said.
Several witnesses filed complaints with the Naples Police Department.
Police reports show Simon threatened to take out a gun and shoot people in the area. He also said victims “don’t know who they’re messing with.” The report also said he yelled anti-Hispanic slurs. According to the police report, he also told one family to leave his country.
“Unacceptable. I think we’ve come a long way from the racism thing,” said Boesch. “And while it still exists, there’s no place in America for it.”
This isn’t Simon’s first offense. He’s been in and out of jail for disorderly conduct charges and other offenses over the last ten years.
Lignowski said she thinks he might night more than jail can offer.
“If he’s in and out then there’s a problem. I hope they keep him put away and get him treatment for whatever is ailing him,” she said.
