A security guard at a Cape Coral bar says he was nearly run over by a bar patron.

"None of my bones were broken but I have road rash all over," said Houston Wimbish, who was off-duty at the time of the incident.

He's now been placed on bed rest and needs help walking until his ankle heels. It was just one of the injuries he says he sustained after a man tried to run him over near Dixie Road House in Cape Coral.

"My back is the worst part," said Wimbish. "My back hurts a lot and as far as my ankle, I don't know what we're going to do yet."

Wimbish works as a security guard at the bar. He says he was off-duty and heading to his car Wednesday night when a bar patron went after him.

"He had his pistol out, hanging it around over the top of the car and told me he was going to shoot me and hit me with his car," said Wimbish.

He thinks it's all because he helped the man's ex-girlfriend walk to her car.

"The girl that had me walk her to her car earlier that evening dated him, they broke up and he pulled a knife on her and other things so I don't know if he thought I was with her," said Wimbish.

He claims several people witnessed the attack and began screaming when they saw the driver's gun. But he says he never expected the guy would actually hit him with his car.

"He jumped in the car and hit me, said Wimbish. "I kinda didn't know what to do, I just held on because I didn't want to get ran over," he added.

His told Four In Your Corner he witnessed the entire incident.

"I was actually the one on foot chasing him," said friend Anthony Serrrago.

Both men are wondering why the man who caused these injuries wasn't arrested.

"I'm completely shocked they didn't even fill out a police report," said Wimbish.

He has since filed his own report with Cape Police who is now investigating the matter.

"I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else, I can say that," said Wimbish.
