Man charged with stabbing in Cape Coral homeless camp

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing that happened Wednesday evening in a homeless camp.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office says around 5:30 pm a victim came into a medical office on Pine Island Road near Commerce Creek Boulevard, complaining of stab wounds to the left side of his body.

The victim says he was stabbed by someone he knew, later identified as 55-year-old David Melvin, in a wooded area south of Pine Island Road.

Deputies later took Melvin into custody. He was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
