FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police have arrested a man accused of an attempted purse snatching in a Publix parking lot on Thursday.
It happened in the store on Summerlin Road at Colonial Boulevard just before 3 p.m.
According to Fort Myers Police, the suspect, 40-year-old Barry Shields, attempted to snatch a purse but was blocked by a witness. Shields dropped the purse and fled in a vehicle.
Officers later pulled him over after he switched to another vehicle and arrested him. Shields is charged with robbery.
