LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Several Trump supporters gathered Sunday morning, holding a toy drive and parade.
The MAGA 45 Final Vote Count Parade and Toy Drive stretched across Southwest Florida, moving through Sarasota, Naples, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Port Charlotte.
Three Trump trains came together as one traveling along I-75 and ending at the Port Charlotte Mall for a rally.
Toys were also collected for Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida.
The group's main goal was to protest the Electoral College vote taking place Monday.
"When we come out here, we don’t give no one issues, we're not out here discriminating, we're not out here banging peoples stuff up, we're not like that," says Louis Labarbera, a protester. "We just want to get our message across the right way and that’s what we've been doing. Like you’ll see people with ‘stop the steal’ ‘count every legal ballot’ (signs)."
Across the intersection from the Trump rally stood two Joe Biden supporters.
"I feel like, we put our votes in for our voices to be heard and that's what was said, that Biden won," says Rose Kugler, Biden supporter.
Kugler was driving past the parade on the way to work and decided to stop to counter-protest and was later joined by Anna Ruch. Together the two strangers stood side by side holding their signs and voicing their support for President-elect Joe Biden.
"I'm standing in solidarity with the vast majority of Americans that voted for Biden and voted trump out," says Ruch. "I wanted to come to keep him company and all I had was my Biden bag so I thought this could kind of work for some visibility!"
