CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Driving through Cape Coral, d it’s hard not to run into some traffic due to construction.
One project has been in the works for 11 years and is set to be home of the first Lucky’s Market in Cape Coral. The foundation has been laid, but construction of the building hasn't started.
"We're tying together a lot of moving parts, part of the property is owned by the city, part of it was owned by other landlords so assembled that in its entirety," said Dan Creighton, Creighton Construction.
The city of Cape Coral tells Fox 4 there were a few issues with the original plans, which held up the construction of the plaza. Dan Creighton says that's normal because of hurricanes and other factors, "we need to make sure everything is status quo, everything is up to code."
The other Lucky's Market is located in Naples. It's a grocery chain that promotes a healthy community through offering natural and organic food that fits everyone's budget.
Neighbors in the area Fox 4 spoke with said they like the convenience of walking to the grocery store, but are worried about the traffic.
“We don’t want the local street to be used as a traffic pattern,” said Leon Miedowizz, Cape Coral.
The city told Fox 4 the current plans are currently under review. "Within the next few weeks you could see some construction started and once it commences it'll probably go quite rapidly," said Creighton.
