SOUTHWEST Fla. --- The Veterans Club of America (VCA) is partnering with three local charter schools to spread holiday cheer to American Troops.
The local Fort Myers chapter teamed up with Palm Acres Charter High School, City of Palms Charter High School and Northern Palms Charter High School to collect and sign Christmas cards.
Each holiday card will have a personal message to troops thanking them for their courageous spirit in fighting for freedom.
This enterprise was started by Robin Perkins, a Social Studies teacher at Palm Acres Charter High School.
"As a teacher and Air Force Veteran myself," says Perkins. "I am very proud of my students and my members for all the hard work that we have accomplished,"
Last year, students and the VCA collected 742 cards. This year over 2,000 holiday cards will be sent out to various military groups.
