CAPE CORAL, Fla – Bar owners in Southwest Florida anticipate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday on Wednesday will bring in big business. It’s the first time they’ll be able to have doors open to celebrate the holiday since the pandemic began.

Last St. Patrick’s Day is when Governor Ron DeSantis ordered all bars and nightclubs to shutdown due to the pandemic.

Kip Notbohm is the owner of three local hotspots. He owns The Dive in Cape Coralalong with Cowboy Up and Celsius in downtown Fort Myers. He described the timing of last year’s shutdown as devastating. Mostly because, like other bars, they had just had their big St. Patrick’s Day drink delivery come in.

Notbohm expects other festivities, such as the South Cape St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl, will contribute to this St. Patty’s Day being a successful day for many local businesses.
