Life threatening rip current risk in effect for Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The National Weather Service says there's a high rip current possibility from coastal Lee County North as a result of hurricane Dorian.

They say there is Increasing onshore winds will create rip currents this afternoon and continuing through Wednesday evening.

Lee County Public safety says if you get caught in a rip current, yell for help.

Remain calm, do not exhaust yourself, and stay afloat while waiting for help.

If you must swim out of a rip current swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible.

Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.
