LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Lehigh Acres man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of molesting a young girl over the course of two years.
35-year-old Francisco Resendiz was found guilty of the crime last year, and was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.
According to the State Attorney's Office, the crimes happened in 2009 when Resendiz was renting a room in the home where the 8-year-old victim lived.
He was arrested in 2014 after the victim was afraid to let a male doctor touch her, and she disclosed what had been happening for years.
In November 2016, Resendiz was found guilty by a jury of Sexual Battery on a Child Under the Age of 12, and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation on a Child Under 12 years of Age.
