SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — A Lehigh Acres woman is dead and another driver was charged with DUI after a crash on I-75 in Sarasota County early Sunday.
Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 2 a.m. on the southbound lane near mile marker 205 in Sarasota.
Troopers say 26-year-old Nicalos Simpson of North Port was stopped in the center travel lane when a car driven by 30-year-old Chris Marquez, from Lehigh Acres didn't stop in time and rear-ended him.
Marquez's passenger, 63-year-old Petruska Marquez, died at the hospital.
Simpson was charged with DUI Manslaughter, DUI Serious Bodily Injury, DUI Property Damage, and Disabled Vehicle Obstructing Traffic.
