LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Daniel Wryals, 32, of Lehigh Acres, was arrested for making fake bomb threats on the Lee County Clerk of Courts and the federal courthouse buildings the morning of August 28.

The calls prompted a suspension of all court proceedings and both buildings were evacuated, but nothing suspicious was found.

Detectives learned that the threats were made using a prepaid phone purchased at a local Walmart. Surveillance footage of the cellphone purchase and several Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers tips helped detectives identify Wryals as the caller.

Wryals is currently in custody at the Lee County Jail and facing two counts of false reports concerning planting a bomb, explosive, or weapon of mass destruction in, or committing arson against, state-owned property.
