LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A fatal crash remains under investigation in Lehigh Acres, with Florida Highway Patrol spearheading inquiries.
Lee County deputies reported to the scene of a fatal crash on Gunnery Road around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said an 84-year-old man from the Bronx, New York, was killed. A 2-year-old Naples boy walking with the man was seriously injured.
Traffic from 6th Street West to 12th Street West on Gunnery Rd. was shut down.
The incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run. However, in an update given at 6:40 a.m. Thursday, FHP said the suspect vehicle and driver were located. The investigation remains ongoing.
