LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A 12-year-old boy was struck by a car on Lee Blvd in Lehigh over the weekend. Fox 4 spoke with the boy's family who is now getting a GoFundMe page out to the public to help with his funeral.

Florida Highway Patrol said in a report that a 22-year-old woman was driving with her 2-year-old and 15-year-old in the car. They say that's when the 12-year-old tried to cross the street. His aunt, sharing his name and picture with Fox 4 from his GoFundMe page, told us his name is Lucas Roulston.

Wanting to make it clear per the family's request, Lucas was non-verbal and autistic and had wandered away from his home at the time of the accident.

His aunt also says Lucas was taken to the hospital where he was declared brain dead yesterday, two days after the accident. While still at the hospital tonight, where they say his organs will be donated to help save other lives, FHP is still investigating.

The family has set up his GoFundMe page to cover Lucas's funeral costs. His aunt shared with us that the family is planning a Hero Walk after his parents decided to donate his organs.

More information as the story is developing.
