Lee County student arrested for posting social media threat

LEE COUNTY, Fla — The Lee County Sheriff's Office says a student has been arrested in connection to a threat of violence targeting East Lee County High School.

Investigators say on Sept. 12th, received information about the threat that was posted to social media.

Detectives of the Youth Services Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation and identified an eleventh-grade student within Lee County as the person who posted the threat.

The student was arrested for the felony charge of Written Threat to Kill and Conduct Mass Shooting.

"I have zero tolerance for any threats of violence in our schools," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno.

"All threats will be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible for making the threats will be arrested."
