COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Lee County Sheriff's Office Commander Mark Shelly is on administrative leave following a DUI arrest in Collier County.
According to reports, he was arrested on Vanderbilt Drive in North Naples just after 11 p.m.
A deputy noticed Shelly make an illegal U-turn and then observed him swerving and making harsh stops as he continued driving. Shelly was pulled over on Vanderbilt Drive at 100th Ave N.
Reports say deputies saw him put gum in his mouth as they approached the vehicle and that his eyes were red and glossy and his face was flushed.
Shelly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.
Shelly began his career in 2001.
